The plan outlined below applies to all Missouri roads, not just major highways. Given the theme of this forum, I'd suggest that people boycott the state until or unless this program is stopped. Yes, the alternative will cost more gas & more time, but so what - what price is our liberty worth?
From the Page: "In what would be the largest project of its kind, the Missouri Department of Transportation is finalizing a contract to monitor thousands of cell phones, using their movements to map real-time traffic conditions statewide on all 5,500 miles of major roads."

I believe the information would be collected via a black-box type device installed in each vehicle, allowing movements to be tracked by satellite!
The government obviously spouted the usual bullshit that it was taking civil liberties issues into consideration. |

These related stories are scary enough to give me goosebumps.
No court that I am aware of in this country permits polygraphs results to be admitted because of all the problems associated with the test. The Bill of Rights guarantees all citizens the right to thumb their noses at the police. The police may act on it only if they have probable cause to believe a crime has been committed & then the person has the right to defend him-herself in court.
Now, two CITIZENS, one naturalized, one by birth, are being denied re-entry into this country because they refuse to talk to the FBI or to take a polygraph test! Makes me want to become a card-carrying member of the ACLU.

4-21 - HOW?!!!! can people do this to themselves?!!:
From the page: "DALLAS Residents of one Texas neighborhood have agreed to install video cameras on their streets and alleyways in an attempt to reduce crime. Neighbors in the Richland Park Estates subdivision in Dallas voted this week to share the cost of the system. They also will monitor the video for criminal activity."
They've agree to pay for the privilege & are agreeing that their neighbors can be the ones to monitor them?

| Sponsor | mfresco | Oct 3, 2006 5:26am | | Don't worry, all plans to put this to action failed in my country. This has now become a subject to hot for politicans to touch. The people hate it, so even if a a new technical system would make it extremely inexpensive, I don't think we will see it ever again. |
